XBOX 360 Repairs
You are sitting infront of your TV playing your XBOX 360 with some friends online. The screen goes black and the only thing showing on the XBOX 360 are 3 red lights!
What do you do now?
Well, you have a number of choices. You can package your console up and send it off to Microsoft with £70 of your hard earned money, and hopefully you will see your console again in a couple of weeks. You could get yourself a repair guide for about £15, read through the guide and then carry out the repair yourself. Alternatively you could send your console off to a local company who specialise in games console repair. You will get your console back in a shorter time period and its cheaper then sending it back to Microsoft.
What causes the dreaded Red Ring of Death and what can you do to prevent it?
The main cause is over heating of the internal graphics processor and circuits of the XBOX 360. One way to help prevent this is to ensure you place your xbox in a well ventilated area with good air flow and make sure that the vents are not clogged up with airborne dust particles. This is not the only cause of the red ring of death, but it is a contributing factor. The other contributing factors are the cheap thermal compound used on the processors, the lack of airflow inside the console and bad solder joints.
There are many guides available on how to fix this problem, but be advised that not all of them are of the same quality. After choosing the right guide you will also learn how to fix other common issues with your xbox 360 such as the e74 error code and a failing dvd drive.
One important tip though, DO NOT DO THE TOWEL FIX, it may do more harm than good and does not solve all of the underlying problems that caused the Red Ring of Death (RROD) in the first place.
